ok, labourers at work. but smell something fishy?

& here's the bigger picture

yup, just one unfortunate step back & you fall to your death. ofcourse it's illegal to carry out construction without necessary safety measures. apparently though some construction companies have no regard to the lives of their workers as long as the job gets done. come on, this is disgraceful. every now & then u hear a labourer fall from a site but still these companies fail to take heed. obviously what you see above is the riskiest situation of all. these guys are really on the edge. does it possibly get any scarier than this?

WOW cool shot; nice framing...akaka sorry.
yup i wud agree with u. A disaster waiting to happen.
i get goosebumps
heheh. dont apologise, flickr is not the only place u can compliment photos :-)
The problem here is when the person is a Lankan, Indian or "Bangalhee" most of us Maldivians feel that it is no big deal but if we find out that the person working under such conditions is a Maldivian we tend to work against it more...its sad and its a shame...on all of us...
Its good some of us notice such things and raise these issues in the ways that we can :)
I agree with chronicler..
shaari men kahala visney kudhin gina vegen noonee ekahala kanthakeh nuhutteyne ;)
e pic fenifa ves foolhah vai vadhehje! =\
hmm....... those people who work in the companies or whatever, are selfish. there's no other word to discribe them. okay maybe there are...

yea, i see that everyday at my company too. ekamu keeh kuraany. some equipment are given to them. but most ppl jes refuse to use them. says its difficult for them to work in those equipment. theyve even complained about it saying they wont be able to work effectively. and those ppl who are afraid of height jes say that they are and when making the schedule we jes put them somewhere else. but ur right. this needs to be changed. this is one reason why the whole well incident happend where five maldivian boys died.
we only hear of it when someone dies. i know of countless cases where workers have fallen and and lost an arm, leg or even got head injuries.
and what happens next?
the employer sends them back home, to avoid the costs of treating him. and gets the next worker in from abroad!
i know of cases where workers have become critically ill and was scared to tell the "boss" coz of the fear of getting his salary deducted.
such humanity!
